CLIENT SUPPORT & MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

 

Current Openings: All Internship placements in Client Support and Mental Health Services are filled until Fall 2016.

No summer internships are available.

Next Available Placements: Fall, 2016

Placements are only available for second year VCU MSW students and VCU Clinical Psychology Behavioral Health Specialists. Both of these are arranged through VCU.

Note: The Department of CS-MH only provides Internship learning experiences for master and doctoral level students. We do not have placement opportunities for undergraduates available.

TIME REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate level internships begin in fall semesters and require a minimum placement of two semesters.

Master Degree Internships require attendance:  1) Wednesday mornings during placement; 2) during winter break for continuity of care with clients, as agreed upon with Field Instructor. Other hours of placement can be negotiated around class and/or Intern’s work schedule when possible.

ADDITIONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate level internships in the Department of  Client Support and Mental Health Services require excellent people skills,  flexibility, ability to be an engaged member of a multi-disciplinary team,  ability to work with a diverse client population and staff as well as an eagerness to learn and be a demonstrated self-starter who can work independently and seek supervision when needed.  Requires knowledge and experience with Microsoft office (Excel and Access), willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’ with the rest of the team, excellent attention to detail and ability to meet documentation requirements.
