I discovered encaustic painting 10 years ago. The basic medium of beeswax and damar resin allows for a variety of multi-media applications. These 3 paintings incorporate the same materials (wax, oil, shellac, dry pigment and alcohol ink) applied in different techniques to achieve certain effects. In this series, I explore the basic concept of field painting and how the geography or “real estate” of a finite space can convey tension, depth, turbulence and peace.
